Stellar colour temperatures may be determined by comparing the intensity distribution in the continuous spectrum with the radiation of terrestrial light sources of known intensity distribution. The newly developed Xenon high-pressure lamps seem to offer a convenient source, having a colour temperature close to that of the Sun.
